Design video games, as well as understand coding and its importance. Use google as a platform to create documents and presentations while also collaborating with classmates.

Materials: Pencil Planner Google login Flash Drive with identifying markers (5th and 6th grade) Headphones (to use with teacher permission)
Grades: Participation- 10% Points will be DEDUCTED from this grade for any of the following: 1. Unprepared for class (no pencil or login information) 2. Not seated & ready to participate when the tardy bell rings. 3. Not being safe or appropriate: with school equipment, personal belongings or in class behavior 4. Not participating in a class activity Each day is worth 10 points for participation Small Projects- 30% Each day, I will ask you to complete small tasks on the computer that will increase your knowledge of basic technology and design skills. These projects will be completed during class time. Large Projects- 40% The large projects in class will be using what we learn in the small projects to collaborate and create a polished final product. These projects include, but are not limited to: Creating designs, products, and news stories Creating and editing video games Creating a website Using google to collaborate Experimenting with coding Quizzes and Tests- 20% I hope that this class becomes more inquisitive and experimental than based around a lot of terminology. On occasion, however, the students will be asked to test what they have learned about common terms, practices and procedures.
Late work: CHANGE STARTING QUARTER 2: All work must be completed by end of unit. After unit is complete and project is turned in, all missing work will become a 0.
Group work: When students work in groups they are expected to follow the rules of Genesee Academy, outlined in the student handbook, and the rules of technology classroom.
